"People Like Us"

Viewing the film, "People Like Us", shows you exactly how people in society categorize you. You have to fit in a certain class to fit in with particular people. For example, a lady in the film said she would never drive a Ford. If I wanted to be her friend, more than likely she wouldnt want to socialize me. Or if I was driving and came to a stop light next to her, she would probaly say to her self, Im low class. The film also shows how the world is divided and makes you wonder what  class you belong to or what the person next to you think of you. People in society always want to be on top or fit in. As for myself, I use to believe I was better than others because I went to a private school and being that it was my mother only paying for me to attend this private school, along with my brother. This also made me feel high class and think my mother had money. When people compliment my house and say I live in the suburbs, I would get this type of feeling of accomplishment. I made it appear as though I "got it like that". When new sneakers come out or whatever the new trend is, came out, I always made sure I was going to get it. Watching the film makes me feel like the people criticizing other people and thinking they are better than others make me feel like they are snobs and are to caught up in their social class. Being in this sociology class open my eyes up to realize I use to be one of those snobs. I wouldnt try to be better than anyone or think im better because what I have that the next person doesnt. I really enjoyed this film because it shows the different opinions of people who are in different classes and you can "Try" and get an understanding of why the "snobby" high class people act the way they do.

Deviance

Deviance is considered as breaking the social norms. Considering that being said, you can pretty much say everyone in society is deviant. Down to kids and adults. If you take a deeper look into the things your not suppose to do according to society, you would realize your deviant. As for myself, I cab admit I'm sometimes deviant. For example, your suppose to drive with a license, however, I drive alone with a permit.

Killing Us Softly & A Call to Men

"Killing Us Softly," is a documentary of a female speaker speaking about how woman have to look to be accepted in society. On advertisement, you have females looking better than what they naturally are. They would have no scars or blemishes. Society always make you realize as a female how important it is to be pretty. You cant just look any way without being judged or accepted. Also, it talks about how females bodies are used to sell things and makes it as though we are just objects. Its as though women arent really looked at for who they are and just being judge by society. To me, this documentary shows and make you realize how woman have to try to fit in with society. One minute your boobs are to big, small, pointy, saggy, or look like mosquito bites. Youcant win for loosing. Women need to be looked at as human beings and for how they are made because we are all created by the same person. GOD.

In the next documentary, "ACall to Men", its a male speaking on how men are suppose to be according to society and how woman are suppose to be. In society, men are suppose to be tough, strong, dominating, courageous, and be the leader. They are suppose to have the upper hand to females. The speaker spoke about a lot of true things on how society tries to form a man. If you cried as a little boy, chances were you would get yelled at and/or for crying and would be told crying is for girls. You can pretty much say men are suppose to be superordinate and women are suppose to be subordinate.  The speaker realizes how he tried to shape his son they way society tries to shape most boys, but in the end realized that it wasnt a good thing and that its just the way men are "suppose" to be. To me, a lot of guys who think they are to tough to cry or have a woman have the say, should view this documentary and realized they are just going according to society and should try to change it in some way.
