Society

Society is usually just defined as a large number of people in a area. It can be organized by statuses and roles. But for everyone you have an achieved and ascribed role. Ascribed would be a role that you pretty much don't have control over. For example, your sex, race, or the family you were born into. However, for achieved, its something you chose to get. An example for this can be becoming a doctor. I believe society is made up by the type of role you fall in and the. Social structures can be said its formed by the super ordinate (has more power) role, over the subordinate (has less power) role. Through the week in class I've learned and realized, how society gave us certain roles, which weren't asked for, but have to act accordingly to the role. Having this class, opens my eyes and through traveling to school and home or just even being outside I think to myself that everything we do is an act and we're on stage performing.

  1. I agree society is made more from an ascribed society, like for example rich people are borned into the money from parents and their parents were born into it too and so and its easier for them to achive higher beacuse of the great benefit they got already giving them a role. During the week though i saw a movie called into the wild that contradicted that idea, it was about a boy who was born into a rich family but hated society and materalistic things that he ranaway to live in the wild. It was such a great movie. Two thumbs up!

    1. Society is a system that is comprised of people culture, and laws based off of resourses.I feel like society is set up the way it is for the proper functioning and some things will never change.Society will always be more of a acribed society because its something that you have no control over and you where born into and still soceity will judge over things you cannot control.
